So, this is the story of our dealings with Bloomex .ca. Here goes,

We ordered flowers for my mother in law for mother's day on Saturday morning, the day before, on May 9th. I admit, a bit late, so we decide that we would be better off using the 1-888 number, just so we get a confirmation that the flowers are available and they would actually get delivered.

The operator tells us that the flowers will be delivered, no problem, for mother's day. BTW, the whole conversation is done in French, our language of business (keep this in mind for the rest of this story ).

Well, we are happy. The whole thing was done in 15 minutes... Until we get an email, at 19:54, same day stating (and this is a quote from the actual email):

" Unfortunately the florist's were completely sold out and were not able to deliver your order for Mother's Day. We will contact you on Monday for shipment of your order, with free delivery for the inconvenience, or in the alternative cancellation if you wish. " (Please note that this was in English, where business so far was conducted in French. Luckily enough we understand English, so the battle goes on...).

From this, I gather that Bloomex will contact un on Monday, and give us the option of accepting the order, or canceling it. Just in case, we reply to the email, stating that, 1) the name of the person who ordered is misspelled, 2) the transaction thus far was conducted in French and we would appreciate if this could continue and , most importantly, we want to cancel the order.

We decide to use Canada411.ca. On Mother's day, 9:00 am sharp, we found a florist close to my mother in law, and ordered flowers. Flowers were delivered by 10:30 and everybody is happy... So far...

Monday rolls around and, when we come back from work we have an email from Bloomex saying that the flowers will be delivered the next day (so much for the alternative cancellation if you wish). Needless to say, I called, try to talk to a human, no luck, I have to leave a message, then I try to use their "live chat" , well, I got a connection once, with Crystal, which ask me the order number number, then drop the connection. I try to get a connection again until I was informed that their offices were closed for the evening. So I leave a message there too.

I tried to cancel the transaction on my credit card (mastercard, National Bank Canada), no luck there either. This may be another Measure up complain for another day...

And this morning (Tuesday, May 12) I got an email telling me the flowers were delivered...

No reply to my voice mail, or my 2 other emails.

Order there if you wish, some people seem to get lucky, but ordering flowers should not be like playing lottery...
